Overall this made me angry. I use a Rt/W to farm the Underworld, Splinter Weapon being a part of the build. I am very angry.

Because the other stuff Rangers excel at have very limited uses in PvE other than farming.

Trapping - Pretty much limited to farming only. I can run a trapper, but it doesn't work very as you either need spirits to make the recharge/cost lower or you need to bring a stance to increase trap rate which negates the use of whirling to avoid being interupted. You could bring trapper's focus as an elite however you lose the awesomeness of smoke trap. So you have to make a choice.

Interupts - Singular use, low dmg. Horrible for PvE other than bosses, monks, and preventing rez. Even then you only need dshot or/and savage shot depending on your interupt skills.

Spirits - To many possible uses and long cast/recharge times. Just not that great other than the occassional FW.

Barrow - good elite. rangers need this esp for pvp. and it works well....in pvp. for pve however you can run out of e quick esp in prolonged battles.

Condition/preps - Provides good pressure and support however not everything is vunerable to conditions.

Pets - I can't think of a good way to use a pet in pve off the top of my head other than tanking or minion fodder.

and that pretty much leaves;
Barrage - AoE dmg, low cost, quick recharge, dmg modifier. Compared to any other ranger elite this is the most pve suited.

And considering the dmg output and support of other profession, the splinter barrage build put rangers on par with everyone else for once. Now after this reduction, rangers are pushed back down to the bottom yet again.

So excuse me for getting a lil miffed when a viable skill/build gets changed on a class that got shafted to begin with and never got changed, while there exists a whole class that can equal the ranged dmg output of a ranger easily, has a whole new skill type that can't be removed, has passive defense that no other class has, and effectively does the job of 3 different professions for the price of one. (If you don't get it - your just stupid or ignorant).

PVP wise:

I'm surprised Deadly Arts Sins were left untouched. But like what somebody already said in the other thread, they're Sins doing just what they're supposed to do: kill. So... yep.

PVE wise:
Aww @ Magebane Shot. I was using it on my Jin in HM and she'd been so awesome...

And LoD... Mhenlo in GW:EN... Ouch.

Who cares how much energy it takes if you are never going to get it off anyway?

What's better?
Energy: LoD
Recharge: HP
Healing power: HP
Cast time: both FTL
Actually, on cast time Heal Party clearly wins now, because you can run it with a buffed Healer's Boon. LoD is just SOL.

Am i missing the sarcasm here? I don't know what kind of builds you are using for the categories you stated, but the Ranger excels at multiple aspects of Guild Wars that no other class can. For example, a skilled Ranger can manage with 1 or 2 interrupts on a condition build with a pet for pressure, damage, and utility interrupts. This deadly combination SHOULD be widely accepted into PvE teams however the current state of Guild Wars allows only cookie cutter teams.

Rangers can single handedly manuver through a dungeon as more than 1 utility player using a variety of skills that fit the area of exploration. Using these combinations will provide good support for your team and provide sufficient damage and even interrupts for any need, be it res or boss etc.

Trolling is the lubrication of intelligent debate.

@Zeek

LoD is so beaten into the crapper that there is no way any pvpers will use it. The way it stands now, it is borderline on par with Heal Party, except that Heal Party can be used with Healer's Boon.

LoD < WoH atm.

You were obsessed with that skill anyways. Now you have to actually think about your builds They nerfed it a bit too hard, but a nerf was in order. Now you have to find another elite to marry :P

Wow. I actually feel kind of weird posting in here, saying that I approve of the changes and hope that we'll see some refreshing new things happening. But yeah, screw ANet! z0mg wtf Anurfz?!//123/lollOlulz

That said, I've only got one question: since ANet seems to be slowly phasing out the -armor skills in favor of cracked armor, what's up with [skill=text]Shadowy Burden[/skill]? I mean, that seems like kind of a no-brainer. And it's not like they weren't thinking of cracked armor, because they fixed Weaken Armor already.

Just throwing that out there. Sorry to interrupt your ANet hate-fest. Feel free to return to your complaints about how the LoD nerf will spell doom to every monk build, forever and ever, amen.

Still no removal of HB from TA. Anet Auto fails. It's blatantly obvious that the bulk of the serious TA community is disgusted with the change.

I think they are a nice change (the maps). Now, Johnny Mending can run off and distract the other team while I go cap! XD

I still think assassins need to get hit with the nerfstick.

Dancing Daggers: 10 Second Recharge time.
Entangling Asp: Poisons and Cripples target foe, lose the KD.

Horible - I said Condition/preps make for good pressure and degen however not everything is vunerable to conditions.

Maybe you should try reading the whole post. I never said there weren't other builds. I just said they weren't as good. I use a condition, interupt build now. Its just not my preference right now though.

But whatever, ill get over it. Splinter barrage still works definately not as good though.

Dunkoro is a sad Mo/Me. *lol* LoD was his fav elite, though Tahlkora uses it better, and now it heals for less. Ah well...Heal Party got buffed. I could give him Healer's Boon but he'd prolly try to keep it up all the time. The Splinter Weapon nerf depresses me. Making it last 20 seconds doesn't make up for the fail. I'd rather deal damage to more targets than having it last longer. Whenever a nerf happens I can't help but despise the PvP community a little. Monsters don't go to ANet and complain about how monks abuse LoD or how rangers spam Splinter Weapon and Barrage.

Unlike some here, I for one am HAPPY with the updates (although they're still testing this week, who knows the final results). Please note that my opinion is from a PvE perspective.

Monk
Light of Deliverance: For PvE... dang that sucks. (For PvP... HAHAHAHA About time, choke on that LoD-Spammers)
Glimmer of Light: Awesome! I liked it before, love it now.
Healer's Boon: The only reason I didn't like before was the -1 energy, but now it's great. Almost TOO good...
Healing Breeze: Good god that's one helluva buff. Wammos rejoice, and N/Mo just got 5x better than Mo/N for 55 SS farming.
Word of Healing: Healing Super Elite, anybody? (Yay)

Ranger
Magebane Shot: UNBLOCKABLE INTURRUPT? Yes Please.

Ritualist
Splinter Weapon: I can hear abandoned rangers crying in the background

I really do like the updates to monk but my SipdeySense is tingling that by the end of the week Anet is going to give a Roundhouse Kick to HB and WoH and take them down a few notches (Chuck Norris FTW ).

True, true. I guess if your hardcore LoD you can still run it, but lacking prot is just ftl.
